Magic Happens It's that time of year again. The veils between worlds are whisper thin as the Earth passes through the Samhain Gateway. Magic is afoot.
With the Sun in Scorpio, Samhain (pronounced 'sow-in' or 'sow-een') skims the boundaries between the "living" and the "dead." This is a special time of connection when we honor the Ancestors and loved ones who have crossed into spirit. We're especially attuned to their guidance, love and wisdom through this portal. This year the Halloween season begins with the New Moon in Scorpio on October 28 and extends through Halloween on October 31 to "true" Samhain on November 7. All Saint's Day is November 1 and Dia de las Muertas (All Soul's Day) is November 2. The alignments create a bubbling cauldron of possibilities fueled by Scorpio's promise of transcendence. Death signals an ending and a new beginning, an opportunity to create from the Void. Tap into the creative force of the Universe . . . Divinity . . . Essence. Light a candle and invite those who are at peace across the veil to energize your prayers and intentions for creating a new reality during this sacred gateway alignment.

New Moon in Scorpio - October 28 - 7:14 PM EDT; 11:14 PM GMT The Halloween season opens with the Scorpio New Moon. Ruled by Pluto, Scorpio deals with power and the underworld. Mars is also shapeshifting his way through the sign of the scorpion and trines Uranus, making this Dark Moon especially magical and shamanic. Eagle and Phoenix are alternate symbols of this sign and hint at the transformative potential of this gateway. The Eagle mediates between worlds. The Phoenix rises from the ashes of its former self. What are you ready to release? Who else would you like to be? What kind of world are you creating? Cast the seeds of your intent and ritualize with prayer and ceremony through the Samhain/Halloween portal. October 28 is also Diwali, festival of lights, in Hindu tradition. Halloween's witches, ghosts and ghoulies are rooted in this pagan tradition. In the Wiccan path, Samhain is one of four "cross-quarters" known as the Greater Sabbats. On the cross-quarters, mystical awareness runs high, and our prayers are especially potent. We manifest and create easily through our intent.
As the Sun and Moon meet in Scorpio, we journey into the heart of creation. Stars like crystals pierce the black-velvet sky. In darkness, the depths of the soul are revealed. This is a death, and a rebirth, an opportunity to create from the void. The period from the New Moon on October 28 through the completion of the Samhain/Halloween gateway on November 7 is one of the most potent times this year for manifesting our intent on Earth.
Halloween is the contemporary name for Samhain, which happens when the Sun reaches 15 degrees of Scorpio on November 7. This year the opposition of Saturn and Uranus forms a tense t-square with Pluto near the degree of the Galactic Center. Structures and forms are ripe for destruction. Sudden, unexpected changes continue, shattering the reality we've known and clearing the way for a higher expression.
