Numerological, planetary and galactic cycles that began in 1999 are ending in these twilight moments before the new year is born. We have a chance to begin again. In the new year, the forms of our lives are shifting from high-spirited Sagittarius into grounded, practical Capricorn. As forms disintegrate, what do we hold onto, to build on for the future? What's real? What has value? Change is our everyday reality. Transformation. The rebirth of Earth and humanity into enlightenment, sacred path. What have you experienced since 1999? Who are you now? Last year at this time, my astrologer buddy Sao and I were checking into the transits and alignments for the coming years as we make our way through the 2012 gateway. We managed to overcome an awestruck sense of "lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" long enough to imagine the potentials and possibilities these next few years will bring. Collapse
As I'm writing this, a footbridge in the mountains of Nepal collapses, spilling pedestrians into the raging Bheri River below, and a 12-story building in Alexandria, Egypt, disintegrates with residents trapped inside. We're entering a time of intensified Earth changes. Landslides and floods triggered by days of torrential rain killed dozens in western Indonesia this week, just as the Asian region was memorializing the hundreds of thousands of lives lost in the mega-tsunami exactly three years ago. There will be more devastating changes to come. Power Play
To the extent that we remain positive, centered and compassionate in coming years, we'll accept and even embrace the profound changes in our lives and our world, and ultimately see this is a supreme opportunity to reinvient our reality in ways that better serve humanity and the Earth. As the moon's nodal exis moves from Pisces-Virgo into Aquarius-Leo, each of us will be called to stand in our power and our truth, to shine our light as divine beings, each with a path and purpose related to the vast shift of consciousness taking place on planet Earth. 1999-2007 was a practice round. Now it's for real. Enter the Revolution This is an opening - the gift, the grace, the miracle of the times we live in. As encoded in the Mayan calendar, the transformation of consciousness is accelerating on Earth. Existing structures are collapsing, opening the space for something new to be created. Now is the time to visualize the world of our choosing, and to work tirelessly to bring it into being. If this is going to happen, we must be fully in our power and purpose, inspired, informed and infused with Divine Love, filled with courage and dedication.
Power Portals Here are some of the power portals of 2008. On these dates, especially, it's important to monitor our thoughts, to stay positive, be in prayer, clearly visualizing the new reality we're creating. Eclipses of the Sun and Moon happen in pairs, sometimes triads, twice a year. Solstices and equinoxes mark the cardinal points of the solar wheel. The cross-quarters are mid-points between solstices and equinoxes. All of these are special alignments of Sun, Earth and Moon considered to be dimensional doorways ultra-energized for manifesting and creating through focused intent. As a tumultuous 2007 comes to a close, we reflect, regroup, reconfigure. And dream.
The end is the beginning. In the new year, we'll embark on the next leg of a journey our souls have been anticipating for millennia - the Turning of the Ages. We've reached a major milestone at the end of 2007. A fresh round of intense transformation awaits.
The upheaval energy we've all been experiencing personally and collectively in recent years will now be focused on the structures of our lives, especially government, religion, education, world banking and other institutions. This is thanks to an extended hard aspect between Uranus and Pluto, with Saturn joining the fray shortly to create an explosive T-square. Uranus and Pluto transform. Saturn represents structure and form. Watch for the sudden collapse of structures, heirarchies and dogma over the next few years.
The 2006-2007 alignment of Pluto with the Galactic Center shook us to the core and opened us to the realm of infinite possibilities brewing at the center of all creation. We've tasted terror, and ecstasy, on this journey home.
Today comes the deeply troubling news of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan. The first female leader of an Islamic nation, she bravely returned to Pakistan to stand for democracy after living in exile since 1999. May her courage burn as a beacon in our hearts in these times of extreme change.
Eclipse alignments in 2008 are heavily weighted in Aquarius and Leo, highlighting the need for balancing individual needs with the good of the collective. Allowing your unique light to shine vibrantly, for the benefit of humanity and the Earth, will be a major theme in the new year. The New Moon Solar Eclipse on August 1, during the Lammas Gateway, will be expecially powerful.
Planets changing direction from our vantage point on Earth give us another opportunity to more deeply integrate the lessons each offers. These "retrograde" periods are times to pause, revisit, go deeper.
